Is a board certified Speech-Language
Pathologist who is also a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association. She received her Bachelor of Science degree
from the University of Texas at Austin and completed
her graduate studies at the University of Texas at Dallas,
Callier Center for Communication Disorders. In addition
to working in private practice, Shaparak has offered
speech-language services in a number of settings including
public schools, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.
She has provided assessment and therapeutic intervention
to a diverse population of individuals suffering from
speech and language disorders including Autism, Down
Syndrome, auditory processing disorders, developmental
apraxia of speech, dysarthria, fluency disorders, aphasia,
right-hemisphere stroke, traumatic brain injury, dysphagia,
voice disorders, dementia, and Parkinson’s Disease.
As a member of the Speech Pathways
team, Shaparak strives to provide therapy that is
effective, interesting, and flexible. One of her most
important career goals is creating an environment
where clients, parents, and caregivers can feel comfortable
asking questions and expressing concerns. She also
believes that collaboration with other professionals
involved in a patient’s intervention is essential
to creating a successful plan of care.
In addition to her professional life,
Shaparak enjoys traveling, listening to a wide variety
of music, decorating, and watching independent/foreign
cinema. She has also taken dance lessons for much
of her life making it her most treasured hobby.
