Is the owner of Speech Pathways with
more than 25 years of clinical experience. Gretchen
received her Baccalaureate and Master degrees in Speech
Pathology from Florida State University and a Master
of Music degree in Flute Performance from The Shepherd
School of Music at Rice University. She is licensed
by the American-Speech-Language-Hearing Association
and the Texas Board of Examiners in Speech-Language
Pathology. During her career, Gretchen has worked in
public school, residential care, university, hospital
and private practice settings.
The goal of Gretchen’s professional career is
to improve the lives of others by improving their communication
skills. Her creativity and innovative spirit led to
two new therapy programs pending publication. The first
is the Expressive Speech Profile©, a new test that
delineates articulation, phonologic processing disorders
and apraxia. The second is the ConnecTalk© program
to improve neural motor programming skills in individuals
with speech planning and control problems. Gretchen
also authored ProWrite: Caseload Management and Documentation,
and the Functional Voice Assessment. The TreatWrite
system serves as a web-based documentation solution
for speech pathologists marketed through Speech Pathways’
companion company, Thera-Tech Pathways.
Sharing knowledge is an integral part of Gretchen’s
clinical and business philosophy. Gretchen is a former
instructor at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky
and adjunct instructor of Voice Disorders at the University
of Houston. She publishes articles and regularly presents
seminars to professional organizations and parent groups
on apraxia, vocal resonance management, and voice disorders.
Additionally, she shares her business expertise at local,
state and national meetings. Presentation topics include
documentation, private practice business management
and advocacy.
Gretchen balances the demands of her busy professional
career with personal interests including gardening,
playing her flute, sailing, patting her cats, reading
mysteries, swimming and enjoying her family. |
